The Religion of Peace
“Islam is the religion of peace” is a very popular claim made by many influential people. To evaluate it, two questions must be answered: Should Islam be considered a religion? And does Islamic doctrine actually preach peace?
Islam is a complete civilizational system—what Islamic primary sources call deen, a total way of life—containing political, legal, military, societal, and religious doctrine. In short, Islam is Mohammed and Allah. Their words and actions are recorded in the “Trilogy”: the Koran, the Sira (Mohammed’s biography), and the Hadith (Mohammed’s traditions).
This Trilogy contains an embedded political ideology—Political Islam—that constitutes 51% of its content and pursues a clear final political vision: global Islamic dominion. This vision goes hand in hand with the eradication of everything and everyone non-Islamic. That is the idea of Islamic peace. It can be pursued through both violent and non-violent forms of jihad, which make up almost one-third of the Trilogy. This page focuses on the quantitative and qualitative reporting of the contemporary harmful influence of Political Islam on both non-Islamic and Islamic societies.

Shortly after the editor of the former TROP (www.thereligionofpeace.com) announced in 2025 that he would stop maintaining the dynamic sections of the website after 25 years of daily hard work—counting jihad attacks and collecting news and articles from around the world—CSPII stepped in with a proposal to continue this remarkable effort. After a full year of intense preparation, we are now live.
Every day we continuously monitor 300–400 global events linked to Political Islam and manually select approximately 15–20 of the most strategic ones. These are chosen by a dozen CSPII Senior Researchers and Lecturers who have joined the project. This means we go through over 10,000 events each month. Simultaneously, we continue tracking open-source reports of violent jihadi terror attacks from around the world.
Together we will do our absolute best to support individuals, organisations, and governments in opposing Political Islam. Our aim is simple: to save you time and energy, and to give you the informational advantage you need for your work. In the section called “Critical Voices,” we feature commentaries by non-CSPII authors (individuals as well as organisations) with the goal of promoting their valuable work.
