Iran's Wartime Hunt for Protesters Ushers in Repression
CSPII Commentary: The execution of the Iranian protester hours after his phone wedding enforces Koran 2:193 “And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah”, treating anti-regime dissent as fitnah that must be fought until all worship is for Islam. This doctrinal mandate leaves no room for peaceful challenge to the regime.

CSPII Commentary: The hanging of the Iranian protester hours after his prison-phone wedding applies Koran 5:33 “The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed...," treating dissent as war against Allah and Mohammed until all worship is for Islam. This is the doctrinal basis for executing those who challenge the regime.

Jordanian Fatwa Council ruling on guardianship of an apostateJordanian Ifta Council Says Apostate ‘Deserves Death’ and Loses Guardianship
CSPII Commentary: Jordan’s Ifta Council held that an apostate has no guardianship over Muslim children. The council stated that an apostate “deserves death” under Islamic law unless he returns to Islam and is therefore treated as dead for family-law purposes; it supported removing the man from the family record after a Sharia-court apostasy ruling and separation from his Muslim wife. Somalia: Former Al-Shabaab Foes Agree to Sharia Rule and Cooperation with Jihadist Group
CSPII Commentary: The Hawadle are a large Sunni Muslim Somali clan, concentrated mainly in Hiraan in central Somalia, near the Ethiopian border; Hiraan has roughly 500,000–600,000 residents, and the Hawadle are its dominant clan. The significance is that Hawadle militias had been among the strongest local forces fighting al-Shabaab since 2022. Now, some Hawadle elders have reportedly agreed to stop fighting the jihadist group, accept or support Sharia enforcement, and assist it against Somalia’s government and African Union forces—effectively turning former local enemies into collaborators.
