After 25 years, the world's most comprehensive open-source record of Islamic violent terror attacks and news on Political Islam passes to CSPII
Brno, Czech Republic — CSPII announced today that www.thereligionofpeace.com — known worldwide as TROP — will continue to operate without interruption under CSPII stewardship.
In 2025, after 25 years of daily work, the founder and editor of TROP announced that he would stop maintaining the dynamic sections of the website — the daily count of Islamic violent terror attacks and the collection of news and articles from around the world. Shortly afterwards, CSPII stepped in with a proposal to continue the effort. After a full year of intense preparation, the site is live. The technical re-direct of the domain www.thereligionofpeace.com to www.cspii.org/trop landing page is planned for September 8, 2026. For the convenience of CSPII website visitors, the exact same content will be also displayed on the home page of CSPII.
As part of the website transfer agreement, CSPII acquired the domain, the brand (including the names “The Religion of Peace,” “Religion of Peace,” “TROP,” and “thereligionofpeace”), and the databases of news, articles, and attacks. The purchase price was purely symbolic: one U.S. dollar. It was a handover of custodianship, not a commercial sale.
The TROP founder, Glen Roberts, keeps full ownership of the copyrights of the research articles, graphics, and static pages as they stood on the day of the transfer. As a part of the agreement, CSPII was granted a permanent, royalty-free license to use, adapt, and publish that material anywhere in the world. Mr. Roberts remains free to keep his own independent static archive site [ www.islamisdifferent.com ], which will include the link to the CSPII website for dynamic content and carries a clear notice that it is a separate archive of former TROP with no connection to CSPII.
Glen Roberts, founder of TROP comments: "I started counting deadly terror attacks in the name of Islam to demonstrate just how different it is. I did not anticipate putting twenty-five years into this, but I certainly cannot put in twenty-five more. So, I am grateful to CSPII for taking over the daily work, while I continue to make my writing and research available as a resource."
What continues, and what is new
TROP's core mission, now under CSPII’s leadership, stays unchanged: the quantitative and qualitative reporting of the contemporary harmful influence of Political Islam on both non-Islamic and Islamic societies.
CSPII is expanding the operation:
- Continuous daily monitoring of 300–400 global events linked to Political Islam, from which approximately 15–25 of the most strategic are manually selected. This means that more than 10,000 events are reviewed every month.
- Selection performed by experienced senior team members of CSPII (researchers, lecturers, and other seasoned experts) who have joined the project
- Uninterrupted tracking of open-source reports of violent Islamic terror attacks worldwide, continuing the count that made TROP a global reference
- News is now divided into seven categories. One of the categories is "Critical Voices", featuring commentaries by non-CSPII authors — individuals and organizations — with the goal of promoting their valuable work. The other six categories are: General: Political Islam Around the World, Women and Children, Hijra, Jihad, Anti-Kafir Hostility, and Human Rights in Islamic Countries
- Violent terror attacks are newly sortable by year and country, displaying total number of casualties and attacks
- Monitoring and featuring Islamic as well as non-Islamic websites with incomplete and/or misleading content which will be accompanied with CSPII commentaries adding the missing context or appropriate angle
Milan Podlipný, CEO of CSPII, comments: "For a quarter of a century, TROP continuously monitored media and documented the contemporary global harmful influence of Islamic political doctrine on individuals, groups and governments. It also became one of the most cited open-source records (if not the most cited one) of Islamic violent terror attacks in the world. In the summer of 2025, we received the information that TROP was about to become a static website, and it was suggested to us that we should attempt to acquire it. After our proposal to do so was accepted, we spent almost a year preparing for the handover: building the team, the underlying methodology, and the technological infrastructure.
Political Islam is a global problem demanding a global joint effort in solving it. Therefore, our main aim, now also strongly amplified with the recent integration of TROP into the CSPII, is to support all individuals, organizations, and governments in opposing Political Islam in their respective fields of activity, regardless of if they are already doing it or if they are just about to start. With everything we do, we wish to save their precious time and energy, and to give them the informational advantage they need for their work. All this along with systematic education on Political Islam."
Is Islam a religion of peace?
"Islam is a religion of peace" is a very popular claim made by many influential people. To evaluate it, two questions must be answered: should Islam be considered a religion, and does Islamic doctrine actually preach peace?
Islam is a complete civilizational system — what Islamic primary sources call deen, a total way of life — containing political, legal, military, societal and religious doctrine. In short, Islam is Mohammed and Allah. Their words and actions are recorded in the "Trilogy": the Koran, the Sira (Mohammed's biography) and the Hadith (Mohammed's traditions).
This Trilogy contains an embedded political ideology — Political Islam — that constitutes 51% of its content and pursues a clear final political vision: global Islamic dominion. This vision goes hand in hand with the eradication of everything and everyone non-Islamic. That is the idea of Islamic peace. It can be pursued through both violent and non-violent forms of jihad, which make up almost one-third of the Trilogy.
Eyal Lior, Project Leader, comments: "The strength of the whole system running behind the news and attacks reporting is people. From the first day we built it under CSPII around human judgment. Our specialists review the stream every day. Each brings a different field of expertise, so we catch both the major events and the strategic fringe reports that casual monitoring misses.
We keep adding new sources, so coverage continues to grow. CSPII is an organization of 27+ nationalities, and we will explore sources in other languages to bring the best reporting from around the world. The method stays the same: more evidence, more clarity, no shortcuts."
An email address, [email protected], has been created so that anyone interested can contribute by suggesting a Political Islam–related article (including video or audio) or reporting an Islamic terror attack. This system will help improve the informational value for all users and ensure that nothing important gets missed.
