The Sira is Mohammed’s biography. Guillaume's translation of 'The Life of Muhammad' by Ibn Ishaq (d. 767), Islam's canonical biography of Mohammed, is the reference used for the analysis below. Mohammed was a religious leader in Mecca. Then after the hijra (migration) to Medina, and for the rest of his career, Mohammed was also a political leader and a warrior.
