CSPII Commentary: A 23-year-old Bronx woman was charged after allegedly assaulting a rider on a crowded New York City subway while shouting antisemitic statements. While the ideological self-identity of the perpetrator is not known, the antisemitic narrative can be linked to the one promoted by many prominent Islamic organizations, according to which "Israel kills children in Gaza".

CSPII Commentary: While it's commendable that the Oyo Muslim community rejects the terrorists' demand for Sharia law, they are not saying the truth about Sharia law. Islam DOES NOT "forbid kidnapping, terrorism and the extortion of innocent citizens". Sharia DOES NOT "promote justice, peace and the sanctity of human life". The Koranic verse they reference (5:32) is among the most commonly cited by those who seek to misrepresent the Koran's teachings. It is typically quoted out of context, despite the fact that, within the Koran itself, it applies specifically to Jews and is not framed as a general directive governing Muslim relations with non-Muslims.

It is very likely that they are afraid to criticize Islam, and thus, claim the terrorists actions are "not legitimate Islam". As long as they live with threat of life for criticizing Islam, we will not know. This is just another piece of evidence how Muslims are the first victims of Islam.
