A senior leader of the Islamic community in Victoria, Australia defended the events of October 7, 2023 as a "legitimate act of resistance“. [1] In the course of these events, 1139 people were killed and hostages were abducted from Israel to the Gaza strip. [2] Women and girls were the victims of rape and sexual assaults; the evidence even points in the direction of systematic use of rape by Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement) on October 7, 2023. [3] Hamas has been accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity. [4]
In light of the above mentioned facts, the evaluation of the events on October 7, 2023 as a "legitimate act of resistance“ has to be examined. In order to understand the strategy and intentions behind these acts, we need to turn to the ideology behind the given events—the ideology of Hamas.
According to article 8 of the Hamas charter from 1988, the motto of Hamas is: Allah is its target, the Prophet is its model, the Koran its constitution: Jihad is its path and death for the sake of Allah is the loftiest of its wishes. [5]
Jihad is a broad set of very effective methods of Political Islam for achieving the goal of subjugating Kafirs (all non-Muslims) and non-Islamic civilizations, which eventually results in their annihilation. Since the ideology of Hamas is rooted in Political Islam, we need to turn to the doctrine of Political Islam (Koran, Hadith, Sira) to understand the full concept of Jihad.
What is Jihad and what does Jihad mean?
Jihad was invented by Mohammed [6], who was himself the perfect example and role model for all jihadists. [7] Jihad is the best action that can be done by a Muslim. [8] [9] Jihad made Mohammed victorious [10] and is a duty for every Muslim [11] Those who do not engage in Jihad are punished by Allah [12]. It is so important that 31% of Islamic doctrinal texts are about jihad. [13] The aim of jihad is to establish the whole world as Islamic. [14]

The Prophet said, "He who neither takes part in fighting nor equips a warrior nor looks after his (the warrior's) family, will be afflicted by severe calamities before the Day of Resurrection'.

Allah‘s Apostle said, “I have been ordered to fight with the people
till they say, ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,” and
whoever says, “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,” his life
and property will be saved by me except for Islamic law, and his accounts
will be with Allah, (either to punish him or to forgive him.)
