After the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel on, the president of Turkey likened the prime minister of Israel to Adolf Hitler; he also compared Israel's response in Gaza to Jewish people's treatment by Nazis. He added that Western countries supporting Israel were complicit in what he called war crimes. (1)
Turkey itself is a member of the OIC—Organization of Islamic Cooperation (2). The OIC is based on Islamic values (3; see Article 15 of the OIC charter), which are defined by the Islamic foundational texts. The part of these texts relating to non-Muslims is the doctrine of Political Islam. It contains 9% anti-Jewish text in comparison to 7% in Hitler’s Mein Kampf. (4)
In its 1988 foundational charter (5), Hamas clearly declares itself to be founded on Islamic doctrine; article 8, the "slogan of the Islamic resistance movement“, states:
"Allah is its target, the Prophet is its model, the Koran is its constitution: Jihad is its path and death for the sake of Allah is the loftiest of its wishes."
Hamas' charter affirms the following positions on Israel and Jews:
From the preamble: “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it"
Article 28: “Israel, Judaism and Jews challenge Islam and the Moslem people. 'May the cowards never sleep.'”
Article 7 refers to the hadith (6):
Hadith (Muslim Book 041, Number 6985): Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: “The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews."
